Landsberg is a city and a town in the Saale district, in Saxony -Anhalt.

Geography

Landsberg is located in the triangle of Halle, Leipzig, Bitterfeld- Wolfen. Until Halle ( Saale), there are about 19 km to the southwest. Leipzig is located about 25 km south-east of Landsberg, and to Bitterfeld-Wolfen, it is in a northerly direction for about 15 km.

Neighboring municipalities are Zoerbig and Sander -Brehna (both the district of Anhalt -Bitterfeld ) in the north, Neukyhna and Wiedemar (both in northern Saxony ) in the east, Kabelsketal and the district-free city of Halle ( Saale) in the south, and Peter Berg in the West.

History

The oldest traces of settlement date from the Neolithic period, the first documentary mention is 961 as " civitas holm " in a document Otto I. The order also called castle was the seat of the Margrave of Landsberg. From the former castle, with the exception of a double chapel (see below) only a few remains of walls available. The destruction of the castle was carried out by the Margrave of Meissen, after the imperial ban was imposed on Landsberg. It was only in 1579 Landsberg was the Saxon dukes the municipal law but returned with the restriction to not build walls and battlements. Then Landsberg to an open country town was.

Not recorded in the accompanying illustration, the following values: 1574 counts Landsberg 30 Ackerbürger and 37 citizens without field. 1600 indicated 75, 1668 a total of 89 obsessive man. 1694 tells the vital statistics of 88 hosts and 18 housemates, 1726 by 111 citizens and 16 household. 1738 were counted 113 citizens and 12 unangesessene citizens. 1779 and 1790 were respectively 388 inhabitants under 10 years in Landsberg.

The relatively large increase in 1953 is partly from the incorporation of Gollma, Gütz and Reinsdorf. The same is true for the population in 2005, which also includes the newly -down in the townships Russias, Queis, Sietzsch and Spickendorf.

Mayor

Full-time mayor of the city is Olaf Heinrich. He was re-elected on 29 August 2004.

Coat of arms of Gütz

The coat of arms was awarded on September 15, 1937 by the Chief President of the Province of Saxony.

Blazon: " Azure, a hammer, its red stem is occupied by a cross-laid, golden, old Germanic jewelery clasp ( fibula ). "

In the village there is the Devil's Stone, an ancient Germanic sacrificial stone, which was probably originally the sacred Donar, hence the hammer. Hammer and clasp are so to a standing next to the Devil's Stone memorial stone and regarded as a symbol of the community, on their particular request, they are included in the coat of arms.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg Otto Staatsarchivrat grain.

Culture and sights

Structures

The landmark, visible from Landsberg is the Romanesque double chapel of St. Crucis in the Chapel Hill. It dates from the 12th century and is the remnant of the castle of Landsberg.

The evangelical church in the city, St. Nicholas, dates from the early 13th century.

The historic-style marketplace is home to the Town Hall from the 18th century as well as a reconstructed Electorate Postdistanzäule.

The single Protestant church in Gollma dates from the second half of the 15th century. The wooden pulpit age was made in 1736 by sculptor Barth. The colored glass windows in the choir date from the 19th century.

Museums

The museum Bernhard Brühl shows next regularly changing special exhibitions, a permanent exhibition on the subjects pre-and early history, urban development, agriculture and natural history. Also located in the Museum nachgestaltete a pharmacy from the beginning of the 19th century.

Music

In the summer months on the outdoor stage numerous concerts and festivals, including the annual mountain festival instead. In addition, concerts are held in the double chapel.

Established businesses

A brewery brews beer in Landsberg ( Landsberg ). There is furthermore a large commercial area, in which companies such as Rossmann, Edeka, Fixemer, Dachser, Jungheinrich, Bauder and Mäc Avarice have settled. Another great commercial area with large companies such as Rewe Group central warehouse and Igepa paper wholesale GmbH is located in the district Queis just off the A14, exit Halle -Ost.

Traffic

Landsberg is located close to the highway 100 which leads from hall towards Bitterfeld. About the main road, there is access to connection points of the A9 (Munich - Berlin ) and A 14 ( Peißen ) and through the junction A 14 East Hall industrial estate Queis and the southern districts.

The town lies on the railway lines Halle- Bitterfeld, Halle- Cottbus and Halle- Magdeburg. There are railway stations Hohenthurm, Landsberg (Halle), Landsberg South (Hall ), Niemberg, Peißen Russias and Zöberitz. Taking place in 2013, demolition of receiving and outbuildings will be the far most important railway station Landsberg (Halle), however, are a mere breakpoint.

Education

Landsberg continues to have a school complex with primary, and secondary school, a secondary school and the "Rainbow School" as a special school for students with intellectual disabilities.
