Landzmierz

Landsmierz, Polish Landzmierz, is a town in Upper Silesia in the community Czissek ( Cisek ) in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Landsmierz is located 2 km north of the parish seat Czissek, 6 km south of the county town Kędzierzyn -Koźle ( Kędzierzyn - Cosel ) and 46 km south-east of the voivodship Opole.

History

The village Landsmierz was probably created in the 18th century. 1845 possessed the site of a water mill, an inn and a brick factory. 1880, the first school was built.

In the referendum on March 20, 1921 137 voters voted to remain in Germany and 267 for Poland. Landsmierz but remained with the entire vocal circle Cosel the German Reich. By 1945, the place was in the district of Cosel.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration, was renamed Landzmierz and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. 1950 Landsmierz part of Opole Voivodeship and 1999 of the re-established powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski. On 11 October 2007, the City also received the official German place names Landsmierz, in September 2008 bilingual town signs were erected.
