Łany, Opole Voivodeship

Lohnau, Polish Łany is a town in Upper Silesia in the community Czissek ( Cisek ) in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski ( county Kędzierzyn - Cosel ) of the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

The street village Lohnau is around 55 kilometers south-east of Opole, 14 km south of the district town Kędzierzyn -Koźle on Dzielnitzer water in the region of Upper Silesia.

History

The first mention Lohnaus comes from a document dated December 23, 1295 in the form OF LAN. A church is established since 1367, 1418 is a parish church of the question. Felix Trieste describes it in 1861 as one of the oldest in Silesia, since it was already mentioned in directories of the 11th century. Even after a fire in 1684 the church was rebuilt wooden, until it was finally 1783/84, replaced under the pastor of Emanuel Schimonsky, Bishop of Breslau was later replaced by a stone building. The parish Lohnau included many villages of the area, which was almost entirely Catholic, and formed a Archipresbyteriat. Originally, the site belonged to the monastery heaven joke. In the 19th century decreed Lohnau a brickyard, two water mills, a fixed and a Dutch windmill.

From 1903 to 1905, the present-day neo-baroque St. Bartholomew's church was built and consecrated in 1906.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on 20 March 1921 which was accompanied in the area of civil wars, voted in the village and Good Lohnau 561 persons to remain in Germany and 210 for Poland. Lohnau remained as the entire voting district Cosel the German Reich.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration, was renamed Łany and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. 1950 Lohnau part of the Opole Voivodeship and 1999 of the re-established powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski. On 11 October 2007, the City also received the official German place names Lohnau, in September 2008 bilingual town signs were erected.
