Lanžhot

Lanzhot ( German Landshut in Moravia ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south-east of Břeclav and twelve kilometers north of the border triangle Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia.

Geography

Lanzhot lies in the southernmost part of Moravia in the Marc Hebene on the right bank of the Kyjovka. The land area extends to the rivers Thaya and March, forming the borders with the neighboring countries. The confluence of Kyjovka, Svodnice, March and Thaya forms since 1993, the border with Austria and Slovakia.

Neighboring towns are Kostice in the north, Adamov and Gbely ( Egbell ) in the east, Brodské ( Brodsko ) and Kúty ( Kutti ) in the southeast, Hohenau an der March ( slovak: Cahnov ) and Rabensburg in the south, Bernhard valley in the southwest, Reintal and Poštorná sub ( Themenau ) in the west and Břeclav ( Lundenburg ) in the northwest.

East of the city, the route of the motorway D 2 / E 65 leads to the Slovakian border. South of Lanzhot leads the motorway border crossing Lanzhot / Brodské over the March to the Slovak D 2 in the immediate vicinity is the smaller border crossing Lanzhot / Brodské on state road 425 that leads to the Slovak Kúty. A third border crossing is at the junction Břeclav - Located Malacky railway crossing Lanzhot / Kúty.

History

The first mention of the borough Lanczhut oppido dates from the year 1384. It was owned by the lords of Holstein, which it gave in 1394 to the Moravian Margrave. Later it got to the Liechtenstein. Around the middle of the 16th century, the Holy Cross parish church was built. The Baptist, built in 1565, a community center, but which has been repeatedly destroyed and burnt down in 1733. A purely Czech population lived mainly from agriculture.

The took place on July 30, 1920 demarcation Thaya until then belonging to Lower Austria region between March and Thaya went over to Czechoslovakia and today forms the southern part of the city hall. 1944 lived 5000 people in the borough. On 27 June 2001 Lanzhot became a town.
