Lars Ivarsson

Lars- Göran Ivarsson ( born October 21, 1963 in Västerås ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current coach. Since 2011 he has been head coach when Mora IK in the HockeyAllsvenskan. His son Karl -Anton is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Lars Ivarsson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department at Västerås IK. From there he moved to Brynäs IF, for the first team he was in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, active from 1984 to 1988. Then the defender ran for five years for domestic rivals HV71, before he at his hometown club Västerås IK for another four years - spent - also in the Elitserien. The 1997/98 season he joined KalPa Kuopio in the Finnish SM- liiga and finished it at Kapfenberg SV in the Austrian Hockey League. In the season 1998/99 he joined the HC Bolzano in both the Italian Serie A1, as well as in multinational Alps league. In the series A1, he was runner-up with Bolzano. After a year break, he ran again from 2000 to 2002 for his hometown club Västerås IK on, before he ended his career at the age of 38 years.

Between 2003-2006 Ivarsson worked as a coach at youth level at Västerås IK. In the following four years he worked both as an assistant and as a head coach of the first team of the club in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan. In the season 2010/11 he was the head coach at the league rivals IK Oskarshamn behind the gang. Over the 2011/12 season he replaced Harald Lückner as head coach when Mora IK, also in the HockeyAllsvenskan.

Internationally

For Sweden Ivarsson took part in the Under-18 European Junior Championships in 1980 and 1981 at junior level. In the senior level, he stood in the squad of his country at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988. In all three tournaments he won with his team bronze medals.
