Latin Patriarch of Alexandria

The Latin Patriarchate of Alexandria was in 1215 under Pope Innocent III. set up as Titularpatriarchat. The assigned to it in Papal Rome is Saint Paul Outside the Walls. The title Patriarch of Alexandria symbolized the claim of the Roman Catholic Church on these traditional patriarchal seat of the East. The title of Latin Patriarch were, with the exception of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in 1964 during the Second Vatican Council and on the basis of a between Pope Paul VI. and the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople Opel Athinagoras taken Agreement abolished. Since 1954, the Latin Titularpatriarchat of Alexandria was no longer been occupied.
