Lautna ( German Lautel ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Lihula ( Lihula vald ) in Lääne.

Population and location

The village has 27 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located 34 kilometers southeast of the county town of Haapsalu ( Haapsalu ).

In Lautna there is a memorial stone for those born in Matsalu Estonian ornithologists and naturalists Eerik Kumari ( 1912-1984 ). He was from 1952 to 1977 director of the Institute of Zoology and Botany of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. Kumari on the foundation of today's national parks Matsalu 1957 returns.

History

During the Middle Ages Lautna belonged to the nunnery of Lihula ( Leal ). The village Lautna was first mentioned in records in 1534 under the name Lautell.

The court of Lautna originated during the 17th century. From 1765 the manor of Lautna is detected. Last owner before the expropriation in the course of the Estonian land reform in 1919 was the aristocratic Baltic German family Manteuffel. The mansion is no longer preserved.
