Laverne Eve

Laverne Eve ( born June 16, 1965 in Nassau ) is a Bahamian javelin thrower.

Career

Early in her career she was also active as a shot putter and discus thrower. The Central American and Caribbean Championships, she won bronze in 1981 in the shot put and discus throw, shot put silver in 1983 and bronze in 1985 in the shot put.

Then she focused on the javelin. In 1987, she was starting for the Louisiana State University NCAA champion and fifth at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis, but failed at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in qualifying without a valid experiment from. Also at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul she did not make it past the first round.

In 1989, she became a U.S. champion, 1989 and 1991 Central American and Caribbean champion. At the Pan American Games in 1991 in Havana, she finished fourth at the World Cup in 1991 in Tokyo and at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 she divorced in the qualifier. The Central American and Caribbean Games 1993, she won the bronze medal in the shot put, and at the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria, she was seventh. A silver medal at the Pan American Games in 1995 in Mar del Plata were followed by a preliminary round -off in the 1995 World Cup in Gothenburg and at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

In 1997 she won a silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Championships, but came at the World Championships in Seville does not return the first round also. In 2002, she won at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester. The following year she defended her title at the Central American and Caribbean Championships, won silver at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003 and was eighth at the World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis.

Also at the 2004 Olympics in Athens you succeeded finally the finals with a sixth place. In 2005 she won again at the Central American and Caribbean Championships and was tenth at the World Championships in Helsinki, and in 2006 she won the bronze medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games and silver at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Followed in 2007 by a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro their ninth World Cup finals at the World Championships in Osaka, but where she could neither qualify for the finals as the 2008 Olympic Games in Athens. The Central American and Caribbean Championships she won again in 2008 and 2009 gold bronze.
