Ławica, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Ławica ( German Labitsch; 1937-1945: Neisse rock) is a village located in powiat Kłodzki in Lower Silesia in Poland. It is located five kilometers north of Klodzko ( Glatz ), whose rural community it belongs to.

Geography

Ławica lies in the valley of the lower Glatzer Neisse. Neighboring towns are Młynów in the north, Podtynie in the northeast, Boguszyn in the east, Goszyce ( Hassitz ) and Ustronie ( Halbendorf ) in the south, southwest and Ścinawica Gołogłowy in the west.

History

Labitsch was first mentioned in 1337 as Lawicz. Other spellings were Lowicz ( 1355 ), Lawcez ( 1397 ), Labetz ( 1494). It was one of the first to the Glatzer country with which it shared the story of his political and religious affiliation.

After the Silesian Wars Labitsch came together with the county of Glatz in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg to Prussia. After the reorganization of Prussia belonged since 1815 to the province of Silesia and was from 1816 to 1945 the county Glatz incorporated. As an independent country parish it belonged to the district of Labitsch or Hassitz. On September 21, 1874 Labitsch received railroad terminal on the route Wroclaw Mittelwalde. In 1937 the name was changed from Labitsch in Neisse rock. 1939 counted 378 inhabitants. As a result of World War II Labitsch / Neisse rock 1945 like almost all of Silesia fell to Poland and was renamed Ławica. The German population was expelled. The new inhabitants were partly displaced persons from eastern Poland. 1975-1998 belonged to Ławica Voivodeship Wałbrzych.
