Le Bellay-en-Vexin

Le Bellay -en- Vexin is a commune of 248 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise of the Ile- de -France region; it belongs to the administrative district in the canton of Pontoise and Marines. The inhabitants " Bellaysiens " or " Bellaysiennes " call themselves.

Geography

The Municipality of Le Bellay -en- Vexin is located 45 kilometers north-west of Paris. It is located in the Regional Natural Park Vexin français. Neighboring communities of Le Bellay -en- Vexin are Nucourt in the west and northwest, Amblainville in the north, Chars in the east, Moussy in the southwest, Commeny in the south and Clery -en- Vexin in the southeast.

History

Gallo - Roman remains bear witness to an early settlement of the place. The first mention was made in the year 829, as the site of the Abbey of Saint- Denis was given. The Montmorency family owned in the 16th century, the Dukes of Luynes in the 17th century and then the family de Bellay, the basic rule. 1666 the site was sold to the Hôtel- Dieu of Paris, who owned it until the French Revolution.
