Le Gratteris

Le Gratteris is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Gratteris is situated at 470 m, about 10 km southeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The former village street line extends in the western Jura, on the so-called first plateau in a hollow on the southern edge of the basin of the Saone, at the western foot of Mont Bon.

The area of ​​2.97 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The main part of the area occupied by the basin of Le Gratteris, which is on average 470 m south and connects to the pelvis of the Saone. There are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. To the south, the municipality's area extends to the wooded heights of Grandmont and east on the ridge of the Mont receipt, where 620 m is the highest peak of Le Gratteris is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Le Gratteris are Saône and Mamirolle in the north, Trépot in the east, the south and Foucherans Tarcenay in the West.

Attractions

In the village are large farmhouses are preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries.

Population

With 173 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Le Gratteris is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the area between 45 and 65 people, a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Le Gratteris was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are almost no jobs in the village. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Mamirolle after Montrond- le -Château.
