La Chevillotte

La Chevillotte is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Chevillotte is located on 423 m, 11 km east-southeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The scattered settlement extends in the western Jura, on the so-called first plateau in the heart of a vast forest area, between the heights of the Jura - edge range in the north and in the south of the Grand Mont.

The area of ​​7.68 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The whole, only very weakly in relief area is occupied by the wide first Jura plateau, which is on average 420 meters. It forms a wide basin with no surface drainage, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. This sink is mainly existed in the area of La Chevillotte of forest where there are several clearings. Neighboring communities of La Chevillotte are Gennes and Nancray in the north, and Bouclans Naisey les Granges in the east, Mamirolle in the south and Saône in the West.

Population

With 108 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Chevillotte is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 50 and 73 people, total population growth was recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

La Chevillotte was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today La Chevillotte has a golf course.
