Bouclans

Bouclans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bouclans is located on 439 m, about 16 km east of the city of Besançon (air line). The scattered village extends in the western Jura, in the midst of the so-called first plateau, a broad basin between the heights of the Jura - edge chain ( French ) in the north and Côte d' Anroz in the south, the Ruisseau du Gour.

The area of ​​21:40 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The little in relief area is occupied by the wide first Jura plateau, which averages to 440 m. History

The discovery of a Roman burial ground indicates that the municipality of Bouclans was inhabited very early. Already in 1092 the Church of Ambre is mentioned, which was replaced ( in the northern outskirts of Bouclans ) in the 15th century by a new building on the site of the present cemetery. The place name Bouclans possibly dates back to the Germanic word bukilo ( hump, small bump ) back.

In 1280 the Lords of Montfaucon built a castle in Bouclans, with a local noble family was enfeoffed. In 1462 the rule Bouclans came under the suzerainty of the Counts of Burgundy. The rule passed in 1522 by buying the Lallemand family over. Together with the Franche -Comté Bouclans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Attractions
