Glamondans

Glamondans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Glamondans is located on 397 m, about 19 km east of the city of Besançon (air line). The scattered village extends in the Jura, in a depression in the middle of the so-called first plateau, a broad basin between the heights of the Jura - edge chain ( French ) in the north and the heights of Gonsans in the south.

The area of ​​9.76 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The only little in relief area is occupied by the wide first Jura plateau, which averages to 410 m. It forms a wide basin with no surface runoff. North west of the village are the ponds of Guigot. In the area of Glamondans the plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. In the west of the municipality floor extends into the forest area of ​​the Bois de Vuillorbe. To the south, the municipality's area extends over a terrain level to the adjacent, about 70 m higher plateau of Côte Brune. Here the highest elevation of Glamondans is achieved with 482 m. The eastern boundary runs winding dale of Audeux.

To Glamondans the hamlet Vuillorbe part (420 m) in a trough in the Bois de Vuillorbe. Neighboring communities of Glamondans are Champlive and Dammartin -les- Templars in the north, Aïssey to the east, Côte Brune and Gonsans in the south and Bouclans and Vauchamps in the West.

History

The priory was founded in the Middle Ages Vuillorbe by monks of the monastery Montbenoît. Together with the Franche -Comté Glamondans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Glamondans was built in the 18th century and has a rich interior. In Vuillorbe is the former priory. In the village are farmhouses are preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries.

Population

With 189 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Glamondans one of the small communities of the department of Doubs.
