Le Sourn

Le Sourn ( Breton: Ar Sorn ) is a commune with 2037 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Le Sourn located in the north of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Pontivy in the northeast and east, Saint- Thuriau in the east and southeast, Pluméliau in the south, Bieuzy and Guern in the southwest and Malguénac in the northwest.

The town is located by its proximity to the town of Pontivy close roads for inter-regional traffic. The most important road is the D700/D768 (formerly Route nationale 168), which passes a few kilometers east of the community.

The major bodies of water are the Blavet River and the streams Moulin du Petit Resto, Moulin de Kerdisson and Kerdanet. This form simultaneously also partly the municipal boundary.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Pondi (French Pays de Pontivy ) and shares his story. It was created in 1869 from parts of the communities Bieuzy, Guern and Malguénac.
