Noyal-Pontivy

Noyal- Pontivy ( Breton: Noal - Pondi ) is a commune with 3710 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Noyal- Pontivy hotel is located in the north of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities are Saint- Gérand in the north, Gueltas in the east, and Kerfourn Naizin the southeast, Moustoir Remungol in the south, Saint- Thuriau the southwest, Pontivy in the west and Neulliac in the northwest.

The town is located by its proximity to the town of Pontivy close roads for inter-regional traffic. Through the village the D2 leads from Rohan Pontivy after. The most important road is the D700/D768 (formerly Route nationale 168), seven kilometers west passes the community.

The major bodies of water are the Canal de Nantes à Brest, the river Belle Chère and the Bach Saint- Niel, Mengoët and Guern. This form simultaneously also partly the municipal boundary.

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Pondi (French Pays de Pontivy ) and shares his story. She was from 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 capital of the canton Noyal. Since then, the place is assigned to the Canton Pontivy. In the present size Noyal- Pontivy was created in 1839 by splitting the former town Noyal- Pontivy in the five municipalities Noyal- Pontivy, Gueltas, Kerfourn, Saint- Gérand and Saint- Thuriau.
