Neulliac

Neulliac ( Breton: Neulieg ) is a commune with 1464 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Neulliac is located in the far north of the department of Morbihan on the border with the department of Cotes -d'Armor and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities are located in the department of Côtes- d'Armor community Mûr -de -Bretagne in the north, Kergrist in the Northeast, Saint- Gérand in the east, in the southeast Noyal- Pontivy, Pontivy in the south and southwest, Cléguérec in the west and Saint- Aignan in northwest.

The place is because of its location north of the city near Pontivy of roads for inter-regional traffic. Neulliac itself is situated on the D767 from Pontivy to Lannion. The major routes are the D700/D768 (formerly Route nationale 168), which passes by several miles southeast of the community and the N164 in the North.

The major bodies of water are the Blavet River and the streams Kergal and Perchénic. These also form part of the municipality and the department of border. In the southeast of the community Étangs you are Roz (ponds Le Roz ) on the Canal de Nantes à Brest. There are also numerous smaller ponds in the municipality.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Kernev (Fr. Cornwall ) and within this region to region Bro Pondi (French Pays de Pontivy ) and shares his story. Neulliac was from 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 capital of the canton Neulliac. Since then, the municipality in the canton of Cléguérec. Parts of the former township were separated during the formation of the new town of Le Sourn 1869 by Malguénac.
