Silfiac

Silfiac ( Breton: Silieg ) is a commune of 455 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Silfiac is located in the far north of the department of Morbihan on the border with the department of Cotes -d'Armor and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities are located in the department of Côtes- d'Armor communities Lescouët -Gouarec in the north- west and north and Perret in the north, Sainte -Brigitte in the northeast, Cléguérec the southeast, Séglien in the south and Langoëlan in the West.

The place is close to roads for inter-regional traffic. The most important regional road link is the D764 Guingamp about Pontivy to Redon, which leads east of Silfiac from north to south through the municipality. The closest connection to the N164 is about twelve miles to the north at Gouarec.

The major bodies of water are the streams Crennard, Le Roz, Samuel Pont and Goah Lann. This partially form the municipality and the department of border. In addition, there are some small ponds in the municipality. Only a small part of the community area is covered by forests. The greatest is the Bois de Squel in the southeast of Silfiac.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Bourlet (French Pays Pourlet ) and shares his story. From 1793 to 1801 Silfiac belonged to the Canton Guémené. Since then, she is assigned to the Canton Cléguérec.
