Lebedyn (cattle)

The Lebedyner beef ( Russian: Лебединская ) is a breed of cattle from the Ukraine.

Breeding history

In the circles Lebedyn, Ochtyrka, Trostjanez and others in the Sumy Oblast in Ukraine of the Ukrainian steppe cattle cows were crossed with Brown Swiss bulls. In 1950, the Lebedyner beef was recognized as a breed.

Characteristics

  • Weight cows 500-600 kg bulls 850-950 kg
  • Milk yield 3100-3400 kg, with 3.8%
  • Good increases in steers ( 900-1000 g / day)

There are 10 main breeding lines.

Occurrence today

Today Lebedyner cattle are found in 40 counties in the oblasts Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv. In 1980, 599,000 individuals, the total number.
