Lebern District

The district livers in the canton of Solothurn Grenchen consists of the city and its surroundings, the western, northern and eastern part of the city of Solothurn and the rural communities in the east of the district. It belongs to Amtei Solothurn livers, capital is Grenchen.

History

In the earlier history of the southern canton of Solothurn part ( area at the southern foot of the Jura ) the " Leberberg " occupies a special position. He was with the region around Biel, an incision into this duchy dukedom Alemannia during the time of the tribal duchy of Burgundy in the early Middle Ages. This is attributable to the Burgundian immigration to about Solothurn in this time otherwise Alemannic area. V.A. the place-names ending in- ach point still out on this Burgundian tracks.

From about 1400 until the Helvetic Revolution in 1798 was livers - but sometimes under a different name - a bailiwick of the canton of Solothurn. From 1798-1831 livers was part of the then district Biberist. Since 1831 liver exists as a separate district.

Classification

The district is now divided usually into three areas:

  • In the upper Leberberg with communities Grenchen, Bettlach (these two are part of the agglomeration Grenchen) and Selzach
  • In the middle Leberberg with communities Bellach, Lommiswil, Langendorf, Oberndorf and Rüttenen.
  • And in the sub Leberberg with rural communities Feldbrunnen -St. Niklaus, the eastern part of the municipality Rüttenen, Balm bei Günsberg, Ried wood, Huber Village ( these five are yet to agglomerate Solothurn ), Flumenthal, chamber pipe, Günsberg and Niederwil

Changes in the community inventory

  • 2011: Merger Niederwil and Ried Ried wood → wood
