Leipzig–Großkorbetha railway

The railway route from Leipzig to Großkorbetha is a two-track, electrified main line in Saxony and Saxony -Anhalt, which serves as a connection between the city of Leipzig and the Thuringian Railway. It runs from Leipzig Markranstadt and bath dry mountain after Großkorbetha.

History

Electric traction was possible on this section for the first time on November 2, 1942 but four years later in 1946 had to be dismantled as part of war reparations to the Soviet Union, all components for the electric operation. In 1964, the re- electrification.

1992, a new switchboard of type III GS Sp 68 was taken in Großkorbetha in operation. Since September 2004, the Leipzig Hbf section is - Leipzig -Leutzsch ( Elsteraue ) from ESTW Leipzig controlled. Semaphores there were in 2007 still in Markranstadt ( exit signals / Asig - both directions) and Leipzig -Leutzsch ( Asig only sidings towards Erfurt and Zeitz ).

Construction

As part of the implementation of the City Tunnel Leipzig net additional measures have also been implemented on this route. Here, the City Tunnel has been integrated into the existing network, as well as the requirements for the new network, the S -Bahn central Germany were created.

Specifically, were realized on this route in the period April 2010 to mid- 2012:

  • Transformation of the station Leipzig -Leutzsch
  • Construction of a new track, including catenary
  • Dismantling no longer required track systems
  • Construction of the CBI -A Leutzsch (replacement of 8 Altstellwerken ) and Großlehna
  • Equipment the entire route with new safety technology (except Kötzschau and Großkorbetha )

Operating points

The breakpoint Leipzig- Gohlis was opened on 1 April 1894. He helped to distinguish it from the neighboring breakpoint Leipzig- Möckern (then Gohlis- Möckern ), initially the name Gohlis- Eutritzsch. On 1 June 1922 he was renamed in Leipzig- Gohlis.

Since 2004 there is also an eponymous stop on the railway line Leipzig-Wahren -Leipzig Hbf, which here runs parallel. However, a direct connection to the local platform does not exist.
