Leitzersdorf

Leitzersdorf is a municipality with 1267 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district Korneuburg in Lower Austria.

Geography

Leitzersdorf lies in the wine district in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 27.88 square kilometers. 7.17 percent of the area is forested from the nearby forest tube.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Hatzenbach, Small Wilfersdorf, Leitzersdorf, meadows and Wollmannsberg.

History

In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria. On May 11, 1484 took place at Leitzersdorf a battle between the troops of the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus (r. 1458-90 ) and those of Emperor Frederick III. (reigned 1452-93 ) instead. The army of Frederick, which was advancing to the relief of the besieged city Korneuburg, it suffered a heavy defeat against the Hungarians, who wanted to prevent this.

Demographics

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1098 inhabitants. In 1991, the municipality had 1065 inhabitants in 1981 and 975 in 1971, 974 inhabitants.
