Leonard Barr
Leonard "Bananas " Barr ( born September 27, 1903 in New Cumberland, West Virginia, † November 22, 1980 in Burbank, California ) was an American actor.
Leonard Barr worked in the steel mills of Steubenville and Cincinnati, where he took dance lessons after work. The work in the steel industry, he returned to deny his living performing in vaudeville shows in the 1920 years back. Later he founded with dancer Virginia Estes, the dance duo Barr and Estes. With the development of two comical dance number The Lunatics of the Dance tingelten it for years across the country. Leonard Barr, who was called by their nicknames Bananas ( the madman ), was maternal uncle of Dean Martin and had a few appearances in broadcasts of the comedy duo Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis in the 1950s, and in the late 1960s and early 1970s in The Dean Martin Show.
A small supporting role he played in 1953 in the film Frozen in fear with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in the lead roles. Barr had a brief cameo in The Thing. He is best known for the role of the Shady Tree in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.
The 77 -year-old Leonard Barr suffered on 28 October 1980 in a hotel room of West Hollywood hotel a stroke and died on November 22, 1980 in a hospital in Burbank ( Los Angeles County).
