Leonard Hoffmann, Baron Hoffmann

Leonard " Lennie " Hubert Hoffmann, Baron Hoffmann of Chedworth in the County of Gloucestershire Kt PC QC ( born May 8, 1934 in Cape Town ) is a British lawyer who was most recently from 1995 to 2009 Lord Justice (Lord of Appeal in Ordinary) and since 1995, is a life peer member of the House of Lords.

Life

Hoffmann graduated after school to study law at the University of Cape Town and was then 1958-1960 as a lawyer at the Supreme Court of South Africa ( Supreme Court of South Africa) worked. After that, he was from 1961 to 1973 Fellow of Civil Law at University College, University of Oxford. In 1964 he received his legal approval to the Bar of Gray's Inn, in 1984 appointed him to the Bencher. In the following years he worked as a barrister in 1977 and received his appointment as Attorney-General.

In 1977 the appointment of Hoffmann, which was 1976-1978 Member of the Royal Game Commission ( Royal Commission of Gambling ), a judge of the Court of Appeal of Jersey and Guernsey, where he worked until 1985.
