Leonid Tibilov

Leonid Kharitonovich Tibilow (Russian Леонид Харитонович Тибилов; Ossetian Тыбылты Харитъоны фырт Леонид; born May 28, 1952 in Werchni Dwan, South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast ) is a South Ossetian politician and, since April 19, 2012 President of recognized only by a few States Republic of South Ossetia.

Life

Leonid Tibilow comes from a farming family from South Ossetia. He studied at the Faculty of the South Ossetian Pedagogical Institute, now the University of South Ossetia Physico- Mathematical. After he successfully completed his studies in 1975, he did his military service in the Red Army and worked as a mathematics and physics teacher. In 1981 he moved to the Soviet KGB, attended a training institute in Minsk and later worked in the Ministry of Security of South Ossetia, then still part of the Soviet Union.
