Leopold, Hereditary Prince of Anhalt

Leopold Friedrich Franz Ernst von Anhalt -Dessau ( born July 18, 1855 in Dessau, † February 2nd 1886 in Cannes) was Prince of the Duchy of Anhalt.

Life

Leopold was born as the son of the future Duke Friedrich I of Anhalt and Princess Antoinette of Saxe- Altenburg. Leopold went along with his younger brother Friedrich von Anhalt on a study trip to Geneva, Bonn and Munich. Both brothers were then as officers in the German army, and remained there until 1883 in active service.

He was winner of the 1875 loop Corp. Corps Borussia Bonn.

Marriage

Prince Leopold married on 26 May 1884 on Philippsruhe Castle Princess Elisabeth of Hesse- Rumpenheim ( 1861-1955 ), daughter of the titular Landgrave Friedrich Wilhelm of Hesse- Kassel- Rumpenheim ( 1820-1884 ) and Princess Maria Anna of Prussia ( 1836 - 1918). ( † 1963 * 1885) out of the marriage a daughter Antoinette went.

Prince Leopold of Anhalt died on February 2, 1886 in Cannes.
