Leyland MCW Olympian

MCW Olympian in Chester City

The MCW Leyland Olympian was a bus model for driving on the left by the British truck manufacturer Leyland Motors with a body structure of Metro Cammell Weymann, which was produced 1954-1958.

The purpose of this series was a lighter version of the Leyland Olympic establish the style of the Leyland Tiger Cub. As the Olympic received the MCW Olympian the technology from the Leyland Royal Tiger or Royal Tiger Leyland World Master and the chassis of the Tiger Cub. The name of Olympian was chosen because Olympic Cub would have sounded bad. Ultimately, the Olympian was only slightly more than 150 kg lighter than the tiger cub with the same body structure. Externally the two bus models could be distinguished only by the different name and a different mounted gas cap. With 60 domestically sold and exported 6 copies, it was the worst -selling bus range of Leyland Motors after the Second World War.
