Liesl Karlstadt

Liesl Karlstadt (actually Elizabeth Wellano; born December 12, 1892 in Munich, † July 27, 1960 in Garmisch ) was a German soubrette, actress and comedienne. It formed together with Karl Valentin one of the well-known German comedian duo in the 20th century.

Life

Elisabeth Wellano was born the fifth of nine children of Italian -born baker in Schwabing. She started as a shop in the newly established department store of Hermann Tietz ( Hertie ), but that did not satisfy the music gifted girls.
