Lietavská Svinná-Babkov

Lietavská Svinná - Babkov is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 1626 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) in Okres Žilina, a circle of Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northeast part of the mountain Súľovské Hills along the creek Svinianka, a tributary of Rajčianka. The 18.3 km ² large municipality has brown forest soils and rendzina, wooded, the edges of the Katastralgebiets as well as an area between Lietavská Svinná and Babkov. The center is located at an altitude of 420 m nm and is 12 km from Zilina away.

Administratively divided the community into the church parts Lietavská Svinná and Babkov (1981 amalgamated ). The place Kňazova Lehota (1907 amalgamated ) is no longer a community member.

History

The main town Lietavská Svinná was first mentioned in 1393 as Zyne writing and belonged to the manor of Castle Lietava. In 1828 he had 51 houses and 561 inhabitants.

Also in 1393, the eingemeindeten villages Kňazova Lehota and Babkov were first mentioned in writing. Both were founded by German law.
