The monastery Lieu- croissant ( Lieucroissant; locus crescens; Les Trois Rois) is a former Cistercian abbey in the Franche -Comté region of France. It was in the community Geney around 25 km south-west of Montbéliard and 7 km north of L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs.

History

The monastery was in 1133 or 1134 as a daughter house of the monastery Luetzel ( Lucelle ) founded in Upper Alsace and equipped by local nobles. It was thus one of the filiation of primary Abbey, Mori Moon. The name is derived from the motto " Crescat in te pia semper locus iste Mary" (cf. Dieulacres Abbey ). Since the 13th century it was repeatedly destroyed in the wars in Franche -Comté, and the monks had to withdraw several times on their Alsatian possessions ( Ollweiler for Wuenheim and Soultz -Haut-Rhin ). Gran Gien of the monastery were in Sénargent, Liofans, Remo fans, Blussans, Corcelles and Geney and in Alsace. 1425 lived nurmehr 12 monks in the monastery. The monastery was founded in 1475 by the troops of Louis XI. and again plundered in the Peasants' War in 1525. Since the 16th century it was named after the relics of the Three Magi, said to have been located in 1164 for a night at the monastery, called Les Trois Rois. In the 17th century it was largely destroyed, but rebuilt from 1690. In the 18th century the monastery discipline subsided. In the French Revolution, there was an end in 1790. The seven remaining monks were dispersed, and the buildings were then largely resigned. There is now an agricultural property, are built into the remains of the monastery on the site of the monastery.
