Liisa Suihkonen

Liisa Helena Suihkonen ( born September 27, 1943 in Suonenjoki, Pohjois- Savo ) is a former Finnish cross-country skier.

Suihkonen 1966 could win their only national championship - in a single race over 10 km. She also appeared first time in 1966 at the Nordic World Ski Championships at Holmenkollen, Oslo. Other appearances followed in 1970 in Vysoke Tatry, Czechoslovakia and 1974 in Falun, Sweden. At the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble, France, she was in the 10 km race your 18 second at the Olympics was in 1976 in the season. Together with Marjatta Kajosmaa, Hilkka Riihivuori - Kuntola and Helena Kivioja - Takalo she won silver.

During and after their active career Suihkonen worked as a teacher. She was also represented in the City Council their hometown Suonenjoki and since 1997 chairman of their ski clubs Suonenjoen Vasama.
