Likavka

Likavka (Hungarian Likava also ) is a town in central Slovakia Kraj Žilina. It lies on the western edge of the Podtatranská kotlina at the foot of Chočské Hills on the right bank of the Waag, opposite the town Ružomberok.

The first mention was made sometime between the years 1235 and 1270 and was on a trade route from county Sohl by the Kingdom of Poland. Worth seeing are the ruins of the castle Likava from the 14th century, destroyed in 1707 and the Church of Saint George in the year 1888 by Blazej Felix Bulla (1852 - 1919), architect of the Slovak National Theatre.
