Linda Fabiani

Linda Fabiani ( born December 14, 1956 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party.

Fabiani attended Hyndland Secondary School in Glasgow and the Napier College in Edinburgh. She then studied at the University of Glasgow. She worked as a secretary in the following several years.

Political career

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Fabiani ran as candidate of the SNP in the constituency of East Kilbride, but was defeated Andy Kerr of the Labour Party clearly. On the basis of the election result she moved as emissaries of the election Region Central Scotland one on the regional list in the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the following elections in 2003 and 2007, she ran again for East Kilbride, but won in both cases not the direct mandate. Nevertheless, they maintained two elections its mandate on the regional list for Central Scotland. At the 2011 parliamentary elections Fabiani won the direct mandate for East Kilbride first time.

In the shadow cabinet of SNP Fabiani was provided over the years for various positions. First, for the departments of transportation and the environment, then as deputy minister for social justice, as deputy parliamentary secretary, as Deputy Minister of Housing and finally as Deputy Minister community. From 17 May 2007 to 10 February 2009, she held the position of Europe, Foreign Affairs and Minister of Culture.
