Lindsey Buckingham

Lindsey Buckingham ( born October 3, 1949 in Palo Alto, California) is an American rock musician and composer. He became famous along with Stevie Nicks, especially for their time together in Fleetwood Mac.

Life

Buckingham grew up in a sports-loving family in Northern California, his brother is former Olympian and world record holder in swimming Greg Buckingham. Lindsey Buckingham played in his school water polo and broke off a promising sports career to become a musician.

His career as a rock musician, he began in the acid rock band Fritz, which existed for three and a half years in Northern California gathered a local followers and fans in Birmingham, Alabama had. When Fritz sang as the only woman in the band Buckinghams later girlfriend Stevie Nicks.

The band broke up, and after a final concert in Birmingham to Buckingham and Nicks joined together as a duo under the name Buckingham Nicks. They released an LP in 1973, which was unsuccessful, whereupon her record label Polydor, they still showed the door while working on a second album. They continued to play live gigs, but had to earn their living elsewhere, until in 1975 a sound engineer a demo tape of them Mick Fleetwood presented, one of the founders of Fleetwood Mac.

Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band immediately. With Buckingham as a composer and arranger Fleetwood Mac was one of the world's most successful bands of the 1970s. He brought a musical influence from California into their music, which he calls Brian Wilson as his source of inspiration. Buckingham was instrumental in the success of the albums Fleetwood Mac (1975 ), Rumours (1977 ), Tusk (1979) Mirage (1982 ) and appeared on 1987 album Tango in the Night.

In the fall of 1981, Lindsey Buckingham released the solo album Law and Order, from which the advance single from the Trouble is placed among the top 10 in the U.S. and also in the German single charts ( number 39 ) was represented. Less successful was his solo album Go Insane (1984).

The end of 1987 he left Fleetwood Mac after their album Tango in the Night, to concentrate on his solo projects that never were, however, as successful as the Fleetwood Mac albums. This was followed in 1992 his third solo album, Out of the Cradle with the singles countdown ( No. 66 ) and one year later Soul Drifter ( No. 53 ).

Between 2003 and 2006, Buckingham was working on a new acoustic guitar album, which was published under the title Under the Skin in September 2006. On the soundtrack of the movie Elizabethtown a new acoustic piece called Buckinghams Shut us down was published in 2005 already. In September 2008, his fifth album was released, titled Gift Of Screws, in September 2011 was followed by the album Seeds We Sow.

His song Holiday Road is a leitmotif in the film National Lampoon 's Vacation ( German version: The Lampoon ) with Chevy Chase and Beverly D' Angelo in 1983.

In 1987, he also worked as a producer of the band The Dream Academy.

Since 2002, Fleetwood Mac existed back in the occupation of the late 1970s, but without Christine McVie. In 2003, the album Say You Will. From Lindsey Buckingham came, among others, the first single titled Peacekeeper, which he wanted to publish on a solo album originally.

Buckingham's virtuosity and skill identify him as a first-class arranger, composer and producer.

Since February 2000 he is married to Kristen Messner; the couple has three children.
