LiptovskÃ© RevÃºce

Liptovské Revúce ( until 1927 slovak " Nižná, Prostredná a Vyšná Revúca " or "Tri Revúce "; Hungarian Háromrevuca ) is a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský in Slovakia with about 1,600 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the upper course of the river Revúca, just a few kilometers east of the source. It lies between the mountains of Velka Fatra, the north and west of the community EXTEND and the foothills of the Low Tatras in the south. The only year-round motorable road turns Liptovská Osada, with connecting direction Ružomberok. About a forest road over the pass Velky Sturec can reach the neighboring Motyčky on the way to Banská Bystrica.

History

The area of the town, whose name is derived from the flowing river, Revúca, is mentioned for the first time in 1233 in a charter of Andrew II in 1233 as terra Reucha. A century later, he is then (now Ružomberok ) mentioned in a charter of the city of Rosenberg reuce. 1355 went down the old Slavic settlement and the site re-emerged only in the late 15th century, when there was a copper smelter for processing the required in the nearby Špania Dolina copper.
