Liptovské Sliače

Liptovské Sliače (1927 slovak until 30 June 2001 " Sliače " - to 1927 "Tri Sliače " or " Nižný, Prostredný a Vyšný Sliač "; Hungarian Háromszlécs - older even Szlécs ) is a town in central Slovakia Kraj Žilina. It lies at the western end of the Podtatranská kotlina at the foot of the Low Tatras on the left bank of the Waag, 8 km east of town of Ruzomberok.

The first mention was made in 1251 ( utraque Stelach ), or 1252 ( due ville Scelech ). The church today is of three originally separate places named Nižný Sliač (low Sliač ), Stredný Sliač (Central Sliač ) and Vyšný Sliač (upper Sliač ) ( they exist to this day as parts of municipalities ). The first two were mentioned in the 13th century, the last of which was founded in the 16th century and the three places had been a common name Tri Sliače.

Worth seeing is a church built in 1325 and a wood- forming bell tower.
