Lisa Gay Hamilton

Lisa Gay Hamilton ( born March 25, 1964 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress.

Life and achievements

Hamilton completed a degree in Theatre Arts at New York University, she studied acting at the Juilliard School. She made her debut in the film drama Krush Groove from the year 1985. In the comedy Naked in New York ( 1993) she played alongside Eric Stoltz, Mary- Louise Parker, Tony Curtis, Timothy Dalton, Kathleen Turner, Whoopi Goldberg and Calista Flockhart.

In the years 1997 to 2003 Hamilton played in the television series Practice - the role of Rebecca Washington lawyers. For this role she was - together with some other actors - in the years 1999, 2000 and 2001, nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. She was also nominated in 2000 for the Image Award. For her role in the thriller True Crime (1999), in which she played a larger role at the side of Clint Eastwood, 2000, she was nominated for a Black Reel Award and the Image Award.

In the film drama Nine Lives (2005) played alongside Hamilton Kathy Baker, Glenn Close, Holly Hunter, Jason Isaacs, Aidan Quinn and Sissy Spacek. As a member of the actor ensemble, she was nominated in 2005 for the Gotham Award.

Hamilton directed the documentary film Beah: A Black Woman Speaks from the year 2003 for this work in 2003, she won a prize from the AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival and was nominated in two categories for the Black Reel Award 2005..
