List of British Residents of Perak

This is a list of the British residents of the Malay state of Perak, British Malaysia. The Office of the Resident was an administrative post. Under the terms of the Treaty of Pangkor, the resident was an adviser to His Highness the Sultan of Perak. The decisions of the residents were binding for the Sultan, unless they concern matters of religion or culture. The office of the British Resident corresponded to today's Office of the Prime Minister ( Menteri Besar ) in a state of Malaysia. The Resident was the chairman of the Council of Perak ( Perak State Council ) and the Sultan was Lord President of the Council. The official residence of the Resident was Residency Hill, Taiping. Other officers in Kuala Kangsar seats were and Ipoh.

With the occupation of Malaysia by Japanese troops accounted for the Office of the Resident. After the Second World War, the British colonial administration in lieu of a resident of a British consultant. As Malaysia was granted independence, the post of British Adviser was also abolished.
