At 31 December 2009 there were operated freight transportation in the United States 565 public railway companies. According to the classification of the Association of American Railroads ( AAR) is 7 Class 1 companies, 23 Regional Railroads, Local 339 Railroads, 194 Rangiergesellschaften and two Canadian companies ( CN and CP).
