List of crossings of the Charles River
The list of bridges over the Charles River that leads to all the current above-ground crossings of the Charles River in the state of Massachusetts in the United States. The river itself is relatively short with a total length of 80 mi ( 128.7 km ) and lies entirely within Massachusetts. It rises in the Echo Lake in Hopkinton and finally flows into Boston in the Boston Harbor.
Structure of the list
The list starts at the source of the river in Hopkinton and leads the bridges in sequential order. The distances are to be understood as approximate and may vary depending on the measurement method. They are given for ease of comparability in both metric and imperial units and are related to the point where the river leaves the Echo Lake for the first time. Under Location (s) is just a city specified when the bridge on both banks is at the same urban area, otherwise both cities concerned or neighborhoods are listed.
When recording the structures in the list are no longer existing or underground structures (especially underground tunnels) and ferries are not included.
