List of Governors of Assam

The following table lists the governors of Assam since India's independence with respective term of office. A governorship in Assam was created in 1921 under the British colonial administration. The areas of Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya were removed in the 1960s and 1970s from Assam and operated under a self-government and later received federal state status.
