List of Governors of Maharashtra

The following table lists the Governors of Maharashtra since the founding of the state on May 1, 1960, with respective term of office. Sri Prakasa was from 1956 to April 16, 1962, last Governor of Bombay and thus two years representative head of Maharashtra. Since he never officially was Governor of Maharashtra, he is not listed in the table. In times of vacancy, the Office will regularly exercised by the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
