List of monarchs of Northumbria
The Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria in the 7th century arose from the union of the kingdoms of Bernicia and Deira; for the predecessors of the kings listed here, therefore, see also: List of kings of Bernicia and list of the kings of Deira. The first ruler who ruled both kingdoms, was Æthelfrith, but it came under his successors partly re- separation of the two kingdoms or to establish a sub- kingdom in Deira under Northumbrian supremacy.
