List of sultans of the Ottoman Empire

The List of sultans of the Ottoman Empire includes all the rulers of this country from its inception in 1299 until its dissolution in 1922. Turkish Sultan title refers primarily a secular ruler, but also includes a religious authority. After 1517 Egypt incorporated into the Ottoman Empire, and the prevailing Mamluks had been toppled, took over the Ottoman sultans from the last Abbasid "shadow caliphs " also the title of Caliph. The Ottoman sultans were from the subgroup Kayı the Oghuz.
