List of universities in Belgium

In the federal state of Belgium, the legislative power is about colleges and universities in the hands of communities. The universities in Belgium are thus recognized by the Flemish, the French and German-speaking Community. The communities also determine which diplomas may be awarded the Institute. Most universities are French or Dutch-speaking. Overview

At Belgium's universities, there are three cycles. Before the Bologna Process, the first stage of study ended after two to three years with the academic degree of candidate ( fr. candidat, nl. Dutch-speaking universities
