List of zones of Ethiopia

Zones ( Amharic ዞን zonə ) form the second-highest administrative level below the regions or states ethnically defined in Ethiopia.

There are about 68 zones in Ethiopia ( the graduations were changed variously, and there are different details of name and number of zones). In contrast to the classification into regions, which hold far-reaching autonomy, is the zoning of a purely administrative nature. The zones are further divided into Woredas. So-called Special Woredas have a special status insofar as they are not subject zone. Zones and woredas are partly defined ethnically.

Before the introduction of modern administrative divisions of Ethiopia in 1995, the traditional provinces in Ethiopia were divided into awrajjas.
