Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1

Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1 is the second album of George Michael. It was released in September 1990 and could not quite match the success of their debut album. It was the last album on Columbia Records with completely new material to the album Patience in the spring of 2004. Disappointing sales figures in the U.S. led to a lawsuit with Sony Music.

History

After Faith had received major international success, George Michael had to repeat it and thereby establish itself as a serious artist - which is also the album title indicates - but at the same time achieve sales. During the studio recording an MTV Rockumentary was taken. Actually, even a more dance - oriented album Listen Without Prejudice Vol.2 should follow, but it never appeared. Vol 1 reached number seven in Germany and number two in the U.S.. In the UK, it was at number one on the charts. The album sold eight million copies, which was compared with the 25 million pieces of Faith relatively little. The first single was Praying for Time decoupled. The BRIT Awards the plate won the award for best British album.

Criticism

On the Allmusic page, the texts were criticized as little success. However, the song Praying for Time, Waiting for That Day and the Top Ten hit Freedom showed Michael's talent as Popgröße.
