Description
Lithocarpus glaber is (according to other sources up to 10 meters ) reached an evergreen tree, the growth heights up to 7 meters.
The seed is in the shape of an elongated acorn. The seeds contain a lot of tannin and are therefore unfit for human consumption without treatment; After removing the bitterness by soaking and cooking them are edible.
Distribution and location
The species is native to China, Japan and Taiwan. It occurs in the eastern Chinese provinces of Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Zhejiang. In Japan, the deposits are located on Honshu, Kyushu and the Ryukyu Islands. The tree grows mainly on sunny mountain slopes and climb altitudes up to 1500 m.
