Liu Wei (table tennis)

Liu Wei ( born November 27, 1969 in Shandong) is a Chinese table tennis player. She won in the 1990s at the World Championships five gold medals.

Career

From 1989 to 1995, Liu Wei was nominated four times for the World Championships. They won the double with Qiao Yunping 1993 gold and 1995 silver behind Deng Yaping / Hong Qiao. In addition, it was established in 1995 in a single third party. In mixed, it was 1991, 1993 and 1995, with Wang Tao World Champion. It was the first time that a pair of three in a row won the Mixed competition times. Another gold medal she won in 1995 with the Chinese women's team.

In 1996, Liu Wei qualified for the Summer Olympics, where she won with Qiao Yunping silver in doubles.

After the Olympics, Liu Wei retired from competitive sports. She played three years in the Japanese League with the club Sakura Bank Club. In 1999, she returned to China and began to study. In 2003 she founded the Peking University Founder Table Tennis Club. This has to combine the goal of studying and competitive sports.

Due to its success it was recorded in 2003 by the ITTF in the ITTF Hall of Fame.

Namesake

There is a male Chinese table tennis player by the name of Liu Wei. This was in season 1995/96 by the German district division TG Donzdorf (Baden- Württemberg ) for some game obliged to secure promotion to the national league.
