Liu Xuan (gymnast)

Liu Xuan (Chinese刘璇; born March 12, 1979 in Changsha ) is a former Chinese gymnast.

At the age of 17, she took part in for the first time in Atlanta Summer Olympic Games. With the Chinese team, she finished fourth in the all around. In the individual competitions, she could not qualify for the final.

Four years later, she took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney and was Olympic champion on balance beam. Two bronze medals she won in the all around with both the team and in the individual competition. The bronze medal in the individual competition, she inherited after the Romanian Olympic gold medalist Andreea Răducan was disqualified because she had used a non-approved cold remedies.

In April 2010, Liu had won their 2000 team bronze medal return as her teammate Dong Fangxiao was then only 14 years old, which is below the minimum age two years; The IOC then put the U.S. team to third place.
